(International Ambassadors promoting the show)

Jewellers Association Show (JAS 2008) being organized between August 28 and 31 with an objective to get international recognition to the jewellery industry of Jaipur and to apprise jewellers of the Pink City with the latest marketing techniques, has started creating ripples across the world. International ambassadors at different countries are looking after the publicity and advertising work of this show.
Jewellers Association president Shri Vivek Kala and convener Nirmal Bardia said for publicity at the international level, JAS committee had appointed ambassadors at Brazil, Canada, China, Dubai, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand and America, who are looking after the promotion activities of the Show. They said Marshelo Arouj in Brazil, Sampat Poddar in Canada, Sanjay Porwal in China, Lakshmi Dhamani and Dr Rajendra Shah in Dubai, Neel Agarwal in Germany, Rakesh Jain and Ajay Jakhotia in Hong Kong, Bitthal Maheshwari in Italy, Manoj Bhandari in Japan, Sharad Bharat in Taiwan, Vimal Gudka (Shah) in Tanzania, Padam Jain and Anil Tambi in Thailand and Ashok Sancheti and Sushil Goyal in America are promoting the Show. Apart from this, information about the show has been carried in over 15 jewellery magazines in India and abroad. Even the show website www.jasjaipur.com is being continuously updated with the activities pertaining to the JAS 08.
Jewellers Association secretary Kishandas Jhanwar said approximately 200 foreign buyers and around 500 NRIs would attend the Show. He said around 2000 updates and information about show have been provided in different countries as per the information received from the ambassadors appointed for the promotion of JAS 08. Based on this information, it is being expected that large number of foreign buyers would visit the show. Apart from this, it is also being assumed that next year, the number of foreign buyers would get double.
It is to be mentioned that in 2006-07 the total exports of jewellery and gemstones was Rs 1913 crore, while it increased to Rs 2044 crore in 2007-08. Jaipur is carving its own niche at the international level in the field of jewellery manufacturing.
